HEALTH EXCHANGES TO BE UP BY OCTOBER 1 - 8/13/2013

Health insurance exchanges, for small businesses, were scheduled to be open on October 1, 2013. The exchanges were expected to have a variety of options available for small businesses with an effective coverage date of January 1, 2014.  However, due to the technical difficulty of assembling insurance plans, the implementation of the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) has been delayed until 2015. For 2014, small business will still be able to obtain coverage through the exchange, but states have the option to limit the offerings to just one choice.  In 2015, multiple options are expected to be available for all states.
